Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal can be a very sticky business, whether it is on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, chewing gum eventually changes into a smudge on concrete. But before that happens, pedestrians and customers walking into a business will walk on the chewing gum and track it in all over your carpets and mats. Then it is embedded deep into the carpet and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to track it somewhere else in your building.
We are happy to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Mesquite TX. Find more information on our methods below:
The best methods for removing gum from concrete depends on how long the gum has been there and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it has not penetrated the surface yet, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping it off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a workable substance compared to a warm and stringy mess. Once that happens, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper under the gum. Then we slide the scraper very slowly beneath the gum and the entire piece should peel right off of the concrete.
The above process is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove gum that has turned black, or is smashed down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal, we won’t use high pressure because that will sometimes harm the surface of the concrete!
Our crew never uses any more pressure than needed to safely clean commercial concrete. These surfaces can be damaged a lot easier than most people think, especially if they’re only a couple of years old. Concrete can require up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional gum removal service.
To remove chewing gum from sidewalks and other surfaces we use custom designed hot water pressure washing tools and professional-grade soaps and detergents that allow us to clean the surface without resulting in any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we safely remove gum and dirt while protecting the surface. Our method will also eliminate bacteria and viruses that are found in gum.
By hiring Mesquite Pressure Washing for routine maintenance cleaning at your location, your commercial property will have a better appearance and all gum removal issues will be over!
